Flying to Calaveras County Airport, June 26, 2014 |
A huge part of learning to fly is navigation--knowing where you are, where you want to go and actually getting there. (We'll talk about how much fun this is for the directionally challenged later.)
Yours truly is preparing for a solo short cross country flight where the task is to plan for and successfully navigate to two airports that are some distance from home, all by myself. (YIKES.)
In advance, I've been practicing cross country flying around the Sacramento Valley and surrounding areas with my flight instructor. I love getting to see gorgeous vistas like the foothills around Calaveras County. Just wish the lakes had more water!
