The koi fish pond at Ten Thousand Waves in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Directly across from this pond is a foot spa/waiting area where you can sit and stare at the fishies. In the distance is the "Relaxation Room" which is equipped with mats, pillows, blankets and headphones for various types of meditation.

We made the drive from Albuquerque to Santa Fe in just over an hour, and after passing through downtown, headed up into the hills. After walking up dozens of short, gravely steps, we entered the gateway to relaxation, aka the main building of the luxury spa Ten Thousand Waves. Let me tell you, it was love at first sight.
With just a few hours to spend, we skipped the spa treatments (which I've heard are damn fabulous), instead donning kimonos and flitting between the women's spa/sauna and the Relaxation Room. After a long week, mostly spent traveling and conferencing, taking a few hours to decompress and luxuriate felt especially wonderful. I can't wait to go back!
