The only good dissertation is a done dissertation

Why, yes. Yes, I did!
I am utterly thrilled to announce a new arrival in our household. Affectionately known as The Big D, the fruits of my labor were born March 14, 2013 at 6:32 p.m., weighing in at 217 pages of prose, 58 pages of front/back matter, and a whopping 70,600 words. The delivery was difficult--lots of pushing, too much swearing, a little crying--but both mom and manuscript are fine.

Yes, folks, I finished my dissertation!

Now, before you go calling me Dr. Blue Muse, I've still got to defend this thing (in two weeks on March 28. If you're in Tempe, Arizona feel free to stop by!). And then do the revisions. And then spend a day (or four) ferreting out the inevitable typos.

But in the mean time, I am celebrating. How, you ask? Well, by getting back to blogging (Thank gawd! You missed me, right?), cleaning my house (so exciting), and maybe, just maybe, putting away the Christmas decorations. Oh, and gardening and cooking and zumba! And mindless TV marathons (Castle and Downton Abbey, I'm looking at you) and ending my month-long Facebook/Pinterest hiatus. And (grumble, grumble) finishing a couple conference paper submissions. But mostly that other stuff.

So, as I dive back into actually blogging again, any topics you want covered? Questions, comments, or otherwise? (Stay tuned for at least a couple more dissertation reflections once I get my words back.)

xoxo,
shawna
